Plot Synopsis

With the help of Chip and Joanna Gaines, Texas home buyers purchase fixer uppers that are transformed into their dream homes. In each 60-minute episode, Chip and Joanna show a couple three homes in their price range, help them through the purchase process, and then spend 30 days designing, rebuilding and decorating their new house. On Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 8pm ET, HGTV aired the pilot episode of FIXER UPPER, featuring Doug and Lacy looking for a home in the expensive Castle Heights neighborhood of Waco, Texas. Eleven months later, HGTV aired the official series premiere of FIXER UPPER on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 11pm ET/PT, showing Joanna and Chip introduce their clients, Charmaine and Chuck, to the historic Sanger Heights neighborhood, where many of the homes are either vacant or dilapidated. FIXER UPPER returned for its second season on January 6, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on HGTV. In the Season 2 opener, "Coffeehouse Owners Seek Home With Short Commute," Chip and Joanna help newlyweds in who own a coffee shop in Waco, Texas, asking for help finding a home close to their business and that won't break their budget limit of $120,000. Their wish list includes trees, land and a huge yard away from busy streets. Season 3 of FIXER UPPER premiered on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT, immediately following an all-day marathon (9am-9pm) of encore episodes. In the new season, the Gaines reimagine a wide variety of old houses, including rundown ranchers and dilapidated historic homes, and give families the spacious new layouts, beautiful room designs and updated curb appeal that they never thought were possible. In addition, Chip and Joanna fall in love with a 1850s Victorian home and decide it's the perfect location for a new business venture -- a bed-and-breakfast. A special episode of FIXER UPPER premiering on Tuesday, December 22, at 9pm ET/PT follows Chip and Joanna as they renovate and decorate their charming new bed-and-breakfast in time for a festive family gathering. From December 1 to December 22, viewers who dream of visiting the Gaines new bed-and-breakfast can enter the Fixer Upper Ultimate Escape Sweepstakes for a chance to win a two-night stay. Fans can get more information about the sweepstakes at HGTV.com/FixerUpper. Season 4 of FIXER UPPER premiered on on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT, immediately following an eleven-hour marathon (10am-9pm) of encore episodes on HGTV. In the season opener, "A Dog-Loving Couple Searches for Their First Home," Andrew and Brittany are first-time buyers, who are looking for a home with plenty of space for their beloved pooches. Later in the season, the Gaines also will transform an extra building on their property into a bakery in a special episode premiering on Valentine's Day 2017. The 19-episode fifth and final season of FIXER UPPER premiered on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT on HGTV. Season 5 features more families who look to the Gaines for help evaluating and transforming a fixer upper into the home of their dreams. The new season also includes special guests, including former First Lady Laura Bush and football star Tim Tebow. In the season opener, "Austin Couple Finds Waco Charm," Matt and Samantha Hardy are looking to move from Austin to Waco, Texas, and buy their first house together. With a total budget of $200,000, they are hoping to find a place with some historic charm that Chip and Jo can transform into their dream home. They land on a property that has tons of potential, but Chip and Jo will have their hands full to draw out the charming elements of this historic home.

On Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT, HGTV premiered "Chip and Jo's Family Garden Project," a special episode of FIXER UPPER. Chip and Jo decide to build a large garden at the farm with their kids. The garden will contain fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers as well as a chicken coop, a chicken run and a cottage-style garden shed. But in order to make this garden match their 100-year-old farmhouse, Chip and Jo will have to bring in some antique charm and character to keep it from looking too new and modern. With a combination of antique doors, cedar shingles and a stone fireplace, this cottage-style garden and shed will look anything but modern.
