Plot Synopsis

FLIPPING SHIPS is a one-hour reality series that follows singer Edwin McCain and his Boats Have Souls business, where he and his crew -- diesel mechanic Robby Cauley, Wayne Burgess, Howie Mauldin, and Doug Dent -- salvage boats. When boats' floorboards have long been replaced by grass and dirt, the team goes to work reinventing these disasters into fishing vessels, open water cruisers and family houseboats. In the series premiere, McCain partners with fellow singer and long-time friend Darius Rucker for a boat flip to benefit one of their favorite charities, the Medical University of South Carolina Children's Hospital. Both singers have a deep connection with the charity, and Rucker challenges McCain and his team to build the ultimate Rock-n-Roll speedboat to be auctioned off for charity. In subsequent episodes, McCain and his team take on the following boats: a rare 1970s Yukon Delta boat, which McCain best describes as "what happens when a boat and an RV have a baby..."; a pontoon boat, which the team hopes to turn into a floating tailgate spot, converting Clemson Tiger fans into sailgaters; a rare truck camper, which McCain converts into a floating family retreat; and many more beat-up boats the team transforms into stellar ships.
