Plot Synopsis

FOOD HOSPITAL follows three doctors as they treat people's ailments and illnesses by changing their diet instead of prescribing drugs. General Practitioner Gio Miletto, Dietitian Lucy Jones and Gastric Consultant Shaw Somers have detailed consultations with patients with varying conditions, and then advise them how to integrate particular foods into their diet-- or leave them out completely. This series then follows the patients as they undertake their new food treatment programs and attend follow-up appointments to monitor their progress. Each 60-minute episode typically follows four patients, and includes a segment called 'The Truth About,' as Dr. Pixie McKenna discusses the health benefits, detriments and possible non-effects of superfoods, vitamin supplements, sports drinks, detox diets, and more. During the first season, FOOD HOSPITAL experts treated patients suffering from Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), crippling migraines, breast cancer, Type 2 diabetes, psoriasis, severe acid reflux, unexplained hair loss, a dangerously fatty liver, Crohn's Disease, sleep disorders, low motility sperm, and more. Cooking Channel aired the U.S. premiere of this series on Monday, January 14, 2013 at 9pm ET.
