Plot Synopsis

FOOTBALL NIGHT IN AMERICA is a pregame studio show that airs each Sunday from 7-8:20pm ET/4-5:20pm PT during the NFL season, just before kickoff for that night's game featured on NFL SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL. Season 8 of FOOTBALL IN AMERICA premiered on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 7pm ET/4pm PT, leading into a game between the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys from AT&T Stadium in Dallas, TX. FOOTBALL IN AMERICA returned for its ninth season on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at 7pm ET/4pm ET on NBC, immediately before a game featuring Andrew Luck's Colts taking on Peyton Manning's Denver Broncos.

NBC premiered the tenth season of FOOTBALL NIGHT IN AMERICA on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 7pm ET/4pm PT. Co-hosted by Bob Costas and Dan Patrick. Costas hosts the show on-site, from the weekly SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL game location, and is joined by Al Michaels, Cris Collinsworth and Hines Ward, the former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver and Super Bowl MVP. Dan Patrick co-hosts FOOTBALL NIGHT from NBC's Studio 8G at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Patrick is joined by Super Bowl-winning head coach Tony Dungy, two-time Super Bowl winner Rodney Harrison, Peter King of Sports Illustrated, and Mike Florio of PRO FOOTBALL TALK on NBC Sports Network and NBCSports.com. Kathryn Tappen, Alex Flanagan and Carolyn Manno serve as reporters.

FOOTBALL NIGHT IN AMERICA (FNIA) returned for its 16th season on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 7pm ET/4pm PT on NBC with a new look for the new season. FNIA begins at 7pm ET every week during the NFL season on NBC, preceding Sunday Night Football. Maria Taylor co-hosts FNIA and will often be paired in Studio 1 with former NFL quarterback Chris Simms, who provides in-depth analysis of the day's biggest moments. Rodney Harrison, who has spent the past 12 seasons in the FNIA studio, joins co-host Jac Collinsworth at the site of the Sunday Night Football game every week to capture the excitement of the crowd, provide on-field analysis, and conduct player interviews. NFL Insider Mike Florio continues to provide reports about the most relevant NFL news of the day. Drew Brees joins host Mike Tirico and former head coach Tony Dungy at the desk in Studio 1 at NBC Sports' International Broadcast Center in Stamford, CT, where the trio delivers opinions, analysis and insight about that day's NFL action, provide highlights of all Sunday games, and look ahead to that night's Sunday Night Football game.

For its seventeenth season, FOOTBALL NIGHT IN AMERICA (FNIA) welcomes Jason Garrett, the former NFL quarterback and Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys, who works with host Maria Taylor and analysts Tony Dungy and Chris Simms in Studio 1 at NBC Sports' International Broadcast Center in Stamford, CT. Co-host Jac Collinsworth and analyst Rodney Harrison once again anchor FNIA's coverage from the game site, while NFL Insider Mike Florio continues to report on the news of the day. Plus, fantasy football commentator Matthew Berry joins the team to bring insights for that night's game. Season 17 of FOOTBALL NIGHT IN AMERICA kicked off with a special edition on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 7pm ET/4pm PT on NBC and Peacock, moving to its regular timeslot -- Sundays from 7-8:15pm ET/4-5:15pm PT -- three days later on September 11.
