Plot Synopsis

With the help of experts, British adventurer and NBC News special correspondent Ben Fogle reconstructs Earth's most devastating natural forces, as 3D cameras capture every moment. Plus, survivors recall and relive the world's most devastating natural disasters. Each 60-minute episode highlights a different natural hazard, including: "Deadly Floods," which features Fogle being washed away in a car, swept off his feet, trapped by slow rising water and fighting for his life in a deadly vortex, along with a house specially built to discover what happens when it faces an onslaught from a man-made tsunami; "Deadly Tornadoes," in which Fogle reveals what happens to a full-scale house facing an onslaught from high speed winds and debris, with storm-chaser Jeff Pietrowski reliving the time he chased an EF5 tornado; "Deadly Quakes," in which Fogle and expert Reggie DesRoches show how three recent quakes -- in Haiti, Italy and Japan -- affected the residents, while revealing what happens when a full-scale house is subjected to the kind of shaking felt in a real quake; and "Deadly Avalanches," in which Fogle and avalanche scientist Dr. Dave Gauthier explore the forces at work and discover that the tiniest changes to the shape of snow crystals can result in catastrophic avalanches, as they subject a ski chalet to a man-made avalanche, showing the power and energy of snow.
