Plot Synopsis

In FRONTIER EARTH large predator expert/zoologist Dave Salmoni examines some of the planet's most elusive animals, revealing their distinctive habitats and their unique methods of survival. In each 60-minute episode, Salmoni gets close to a different animal great and small, including: orcas in the waters of New Zealand, where Dr. Ingrid Visser, a passionate killer-whale expert, researches these massive marine mammals underwater without the protection of shark cages; slow lorises, the elusive and highly threatened primate, which exhibit a Jekyll-Hyde twist explained by primatologist Anna Nekaris; killer ants in the Arizona Badlands, where their small stature doesn't hinder them from warlike, aggressive behavior and unrivaled, nihilistic motives; komodo dragons on the Island of Komodo in the Republic of Indonesia, where a leading scientist tracks down the reigning lizard king with a deadly secretive, venomous bite; large cats in India's Sariska Nature Reserve, where poaching wiped out tigers in 2004, but when native tigers are reintroduced, will they be able to reclaim the land now being patrolled by leopards; and the Silky Sifaka lemur in the harsh mountains of Madagascar, where the reclusive primates soon could be driven to extinction with the destruction of the rainforest caused by the illegal logging trade.
