Plot Synopsis

Using computer-generated video, first-person interviews, and archival footage, FUTURE FIREPOWER reveals the next generation of military weaponry, while exploring how these technologies can be used in various scenarios. Each one-hour episode features a different type of conflict, including: rogue states, highlighting how hi-tech defensive weaponry combats the aggression of a rogue state army in a scenario with super-speed jets, remote-controlled weapon stations and mini-robots infiltrating civilian areas; superpowers, predicting how both sides use advanced weapon systems, such as super-smart missiles that neutralize enemy armor and electric-powered Naval guns that fire projectiles at speeds 3 times faster than a fighter jet; asymmetric war, showing how terrorists and insurgents armed with low tech and devastating weapons can be subdued with fragment free blast-wave rockets, bomb disposal robots and unmanned spy planes. Discovery aired all three episodes of this series on the same night, from 8-11pm ET/PT.
