Plot Synopsis

The S.S. Minnow crew -- the bumbling Gilligan and the Skipper, Jonas Grumby -- set sail for a three-hour tour with five passengers, but when the weather started getting rough, they set ground on the shore of an uncharted island, getting their passengers to safety. The survivors spent the next four years trying to get themselves off of the island and back to civilization. The other survivors included: Thurston Howell III and his wife Lovey, who are worth millions of dollars; Ginger Grant, a Hollywood movie star; Mary Ann Summers, an all-American girl from Kansas; and the Professor Roy Hinkley, a scientist. Inspired by the book "Robinson Crusoe," series creator Sherwood Schwartz developed what he believed to be a meaningful comedy that represented various citizens of America, brought together to survive on a deserted island. With his selection of characters -- the wealthy, the glamour girl, a brainiac, a wholesome girl, the misfit and the resourceful bull of a man -- Schwartz had hoped that the audience would find someone on the island with whom they could identify.

After a 10-year hiatus from the cable channel, TV Land brought back GILLIGAN'S ISLAND, starting with a "12-Hour Tour" marathon on Monday, January 20, 2014 from 9am-9pm ET/PT. This classic sitcom then settled into its regular slot in primetime, airing between 7pm and 9pm from Monday through Saturday.
