Plot Synopsis

Based on the Esquire article of the same name by Jesse Barron, THE GIRL FROM PLAINVILLE is a eight-episode drama series that tells the true story of Michelle Carter's "texting-suicide" case, exploring Carter's relationship with Conrad Roy III and the events that led to his death and, later, her conviction of involuntary manslaughter. The first three episodes of THE GIRL FROM PLAINVILLE drop on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 on Hulu, with a new episode debuting each Tuesday through May 3:

"Star-Crossed Lovers and Things Like That" (Tuesday, March 29, 2022): A teen's death by suicide unearths painful questions for his family and reveals a complicated, mostly virtual relationship with a young woman who may hold the answers.

"Turtle" (Tuesday, March 29, 2022): Conrad and Michelle meet in Florida and discover a connection that will follow them back to their respective towns in Massachusetts; Michelle honors Conrad's memory while the police review their text exchanges leading up to his passing.

"Never Have I Ever" (Tuesday, March 29, 2022): Assistant District Attorney Katie Rayburn is reluctantly enlisted to pursue possible charges against Michelle; Michelle is torn between a new friend and Conrad.

"Can't Fight This Feeling" (Tuesday, April 5, 2022): As the threat of legal action mounts, Gail and David hire a lawyer to represent their daughter; Co and Lynn struggle with their pasts and Michelle tries to help Coco settle into a new normal.

"Mirrorball" (Tuesday, April 12, 2022): While the prosecution and defense get their strategies in place for trial, Michelle's isolation from her peers pushes her to a breaking point. Michelle and Coco see each other in person for the first time since Florida.

"Talking Is Healing" (Tuesday, April 19, 2022): The trial begins and a new Michelle emerges. The prosecution lays out Michelle's involvement in Coco's death and Lynn Roy takes the stand. Michelle finds help for her eating disorder while Coco dives deeper into his depression.

"Teenage Dirtbag" (Tuesday, April 26, 2022): The defense hopes the testimony of Dr. Peter Breggin will clinch Michelle's acquittal. Co struggles with regret. Coco relies on Michelle to maneuver through his suicidal ideations. Michelle continues to be haunted by the past.

"Blank Spaces" (Tuesday, May 3, 2022): Coco's last day. Michelle struggles with the future. The Carters and Roys both try to find closure after tragedy.
