Plot Synopsis

Jim Longworth is an attractive, brilliant, hard-to-get-along-with homicide detective who is forced to relocate from Chicago to the sleepy, middle-of-nowhere town of Palm Glade, Florida after being wrongfully accused of sleeping with his former Captain's wife. Once he joins the local bureau of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, he learns this place outside the Everglades isn't quite so idyllic, as people keep turning up murdered. One week it's a body in a swamp, the next it's a corpse inside a plane at a nature preserve, then it's a man found dead at a bikini contest. Each case pulls a reluctant Longworth into investigating these murders, taking him away from the things he'd rather be doing -- practicing his short game on the golf course; avoiding wearing his state trooper uniform; and butting heads with his boss, Colleen Manus. In Season 3, Callie decided to stay in Palm Glade to make it work with Jim; however, when she found jobs in the area to be scarce, their relationship was put to the test as she relocated to Atlanta for work. However, the distance and both of their frenetic work schedules soon put a serious strain on their relationship. Meanwhile, the station got shaken up when the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) sent Jennifer Starke, the beautiful and dynamic FDLE bureau chief, to evaluate the station's successful track record in hopes of recreating its high arrest rate state-wide. It soon became clear that the stations's success is largely due to Longworth's unorthodox style of investigation. In order to accomplish her goal, the bureau chief took a more hands on approach in her evaluation, creating an interesting tension between the striking bureau chief and the lone wolf. Ultimately, Jim rebuffed Jennifer's advances and decided he could not be apart from Callie, so he went up to Atlanta to propose to her and asked her to come home to Palm Glade. Now, in Season 4, which premieres on Monday, May 27, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT on A&E, Longworth is once again solving murders -- everything from haunted plantations to rum-soaked shot girls and even a zombie apocalypse. But will Callie accept Longworth's marriage proposal and return to Palm Glade? Or will she try to convince Jeff to move to Atlanta so she can continue her career at Atlanta General Hospital, where she's been consumed by her work and her studies?
