Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Robert Irvine, each one-hour episode of THE GLOBE features four chefs who are transported virtually to a different global food destination in each of three elimination rounds, where they must use their skills and global knowledge to impress the judges with a dish that honors that locale. In the first four episodes, the winning chefs earn a trip and advance to the finale, where they vie for the $25,000 grand prize. Resident judge Daniela Soto-Innes is joined by guest judges, who are bona fide experts in each region's cuisine, so they know exactly what should -- and should not -- be included, and how the dishes should be prepared and presented. From Paris, France and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to Florence, Italy and Lima, Peru, this series shines a light on the local ingredients and traditional dishes of cities big and small. In Season 1, Masaharu Morimoto, Jazz Singsanong, Eric Adjepong, Dominique Crenn and other big-name international chefs compete. The first two episodes of THE GLOBE dropped on Saturday, July 17, 2021 on discovery+, with a new episode debuting each Saturday. THE GLOBE made its linear television debut one day later on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at 10pm ET/PT on Food Network.

In the series opener, "From Hot Pots to Cassava," Robert welcomes four chefs with a love of global cuisine to a culinary experience that spans the globe without ever leaving the arena. For their first challenge, the chefs are transported to Beijing, where they learn to master the hot pot. Then they take on the cuisines of Tel Aviv, Israel, and Accra, Ghana, where the final two chefs work outside their comfort zones creating a dish using plantains and cassava.
