Plot Synopsis

Two high school surfers, Mondo and Woodie, ride the waves of teenage life in Playa del Toro, a colorful Southern California beach community. Mondo, the wild-but-relatable Jersey transplant -- who is an out-of-shape, shaggy-haired teen looking to master surfing -- and his local-boy best bud, Woodie, navigate the hormone-fueled world of high school, life-changing first experiences, and the complexities of family life. Other characters include: Babs, Mondo's mom; Lonnie, a burnt-out but wise beach bum; Ms. Teets, a massively overweight and inappropriate human sexuality teacher; Jeena, the beautiful girl of Mondo's dreams who thinks of him more like a brother; Turk, an obnoxious local surfer and bully; and Wadska, a charmingly nerdy and delusional friend.
