Plot Synopsis

THE GOVERNOR'S WIFE is a half-hour reality series that follows former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards and his 35-year-old wife, Trina, as they attempt to bring a new addition to their family. Edwin, now 86 years old and still dubbed the "King of Louisiana," shocked everyone when he married Trina Grimes Scott, a woman 50 years his junior, after serving an 8.5-year prison sentence for bribery and extortion, during which he met Trina as a pen pal. In this series, Trina discovers Edwin's reserve of frozen sperm and tries to grow the family, while also attempting to fit into the former governor's Southern high society, get along with stepdaughters twice her age, corral her teenage sons, and fend off skeptics who think she's a gold digger. This colorful, extended family includes: Trina, who initiated a pen pal relationship with Edwin while he was in jail, after reading his biography while he was incarcerated; Edwin, who, at home, is the patient voice of reason, trying to keep the peace between his two daughters and his new wife; Victoria, Edwin's 61-year-old daughter, who is a former performer with an over-the-top wardrobe and dramatic makeup and who has an attachment to electronic cigarettes; Anna, Edwin's 63-year-old daughter and four-time divorcee, who is the family mediator, spending most of her time fixing the rifts between Trina and Victoria; and Logan (16) and Trevor (14), Trina's sons from a previous marriage, who spend their time avoiding their parents and new sisters, because hanging out with Anna and Victoria is like hanging out someone else's grandmothers.
