Plot Synopsis
Created by Annabel Oake, GREASE: RISE OF THE PINK LADIES is a prequel to GREASE, taking place four years earlier. It's 1954 -- before rock 'n' roll ruled, before the T-Birds were the coolest in the school -- and four fed-up outcasts dare to have fun on their own terms, sparking a moral panic that changes Rydell High forever. Choreography by Jamal Sims with music by Justin Tranter, the series opens on the first day of junior year at Rydell High for these four unlikely friends. There's Jane, a brainiac good student who wants to run for student council but is fighting tawdry rumors about her; Olivia, who is still fighting off a scandal from last year; Cynthia, who just wants to be one of the boys; and Nancy, a fashion maven who is growing apart from her childhood friends.
On Friday, March 31, 2023 at 10:30pm ET/PT, Paramount premiered "Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies - Inside the Series," a half-hour special that takes a behind-the-scenes look at this upcoming Grease prequel series. Host Drew Barrymore meets the new student body and gets the inside scoop -- from the songs to the choreography and more.
GREASE: RISE OF THE PINK LADIES debuted with back-to-back episodes on Thursday, April 6, 2023 on Paramount+. Later that day at 10pm ET/PT, MTV aired a linear TV sneak peek of the series.
