Plot Synopsis

GREMLINS: SECRETS OF THE MOGWAI is an animated series that's a prequel to the GREMLINS film franchise, taking viewers back to 1920s Shanghai where the Wing family first meets the young Mogwai called Gizmo. Sam Wing (future shop owner Mr. Wing in the 1984 GREMLINS film) accepts the dangerous task to take Gizmo home and embarks on a journey through the Chinese countryside. Sam and Gizmo are joined by a teenage street thief named Elle, and together, they encounter -- and sometimes battle -- colorful monsters and spirits from Chinese folklore. Along their quest, they are pursued by a power-hungry industrialist and his growing army of evil Gremlins. Guest stars include Zach Galligan who starred as the hero Billy Peltzer in Amblin's original GREMLINS films. GREMLINS: SECRETS OF THE MOGWAI debuted with two episodes on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 on Max, the same day the streaming service re-launched with its new name. Two new episodes debuted each Thursday starting June 1, leading up to the final two episodes on June 22.

Season 2 of the series, GREMLINS: THE WILD BATCH, debuted on Thursday, October 3, 2024 on Max, which released the first five episodes of the new season. Part 2 of Season 2 will debut at a later date. Taking place one year after the events of Season 1, GREMLINS: THE WILD BATCH follows Gizmo, Sam, and Elle as they travel from their home in Shanghai to San Francisco, bringing even more magic, mystery and Mogwai mayhem. Hot on the trail of a new brood of evil Mogwai, our heroes journey deep into the American West, coming up against new supernatural creatures and picking up a few mysterious characters along the way. Season 2 guest stars include: John Glover, who starred as eccentric billionaire Daniel Clamp in GREMLINS 2: THE NEW BATCH; Michael Paul Chan; Ronny Chieng; Keith David; Will Forte; Kelly Hu; and Jimmy O. Yang.
