Plot Synopsis

When his long-running hit series "The Grinder" comes to an end, TV lawyer Dean Sanderson finds himself at a crossroads in life and decides to move back to his small hometown thinking he has the experience to take over his father's law firm, where he butts heads with his brother, Stewart. Stewart's wife Debbie dated Dean back in the day -- and he still thinks of her as the one that got away, even though she and Stewart have two kids, young Ethan and 16-year-old Lizzie, a troublesome and boy crazy teenager who gets advice from her famous TV star uncle Dean. At the office, Claire is their paralegal, and she is unimpressed with Dean's celebrity, having never seen an episode of his TV show. Scheduled guest stars include: Christina Applegate, who will play an old high school flame of Dean's; Jason Alexander as Cliff Bemis, the creator of "The Grinder"; Emmanuelle Chriqui; and Nat Faxon.

FOX premiered the season finale of THE GRINDER on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 9:30pm ET/PT. In the season ender, "Full Circle," Dean Sr.'s malpractice trial is finally at hand and it will come to a surprising conclusion when Stewart gets sidelined, leaving it to the rest of the Sanderson & Yao team to save the firm and find out who has been the secret mastermind behind Cory Manler and Dean Sr.'s case. Stewart is concerned that Dean's instincts and Grinder-isms won't be enough to win the day, and Dean is offended by his own brother's lack of faith.
