Plot Synopsis

In this scripted comedy, 11-year-old Henry Fisher watches his family grow closer, following the divorce of his parents. His father, Mel, never let the fact that he's blind slow him down, whether it was chopping down trees or playing football with his son. Henry's immature mother, Joyce, views the divorce as her chance to be the teen she never was, even if that means borrowing clothes from her teenage daughter, Katie, who is obsessed with the '80s. Having always been his dad's eyes, ears and wingman, Henry's less than thrilled when Mel shows up with Elvis, a guide dog, which is how he learns about the pending divorce -- but Henry does make a new friend, Fred, who is the manager at his father's new apartment. Jason Bateman, the voice of adult Henry, is an executive producer, and David Schwimmer directed the pilot episode. The day after NBC picked up the series, "The Hollywood Reporter" reported that Parker Posey "has parted ways with the single-camera comedy, [and]... the role will now be recast with a search under way to replace the actress," eventually with Jenna Elfman. NBC aired a special premiere of this series on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at approximately 10:35pm ET/PT, immediately after the network's coverage of the Closing Ceremonies of the Winter Olympics. Two days later, NBC moved the series to its regular timeslot with a new episode on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 9:30pm ET/PT.
