Plot Synopsis

Created by Bentley Kyle Evans, GROWN FOLKS is a half-hour sitcom about two blue-collar couples who share a duplex while navigating life, marriage and friendship. Gary Thompson is frugal and short-tempered skycap for an international airline, and his wife, Jillian, is his level-headed counterpart and social worker. Brenda Finley is a cheerful homemaker, and her husband, James, is a neighborly, unassuming and zany plumber. These couples' lives may not be typical, but they have each other's back. In the series opener, "Competing for Love," Gary and Jillian are having issues in Love Land. Meanwhile, James and Brenda are just loving each other dearly, leading to a jealous Jillian and striking a competition between Gary and James. Guest stars for the first season include singer-songwriter and producer Brian McKnight, and comedians Joe Torry, Ellia English and Tammi Mac, among others. Plus, Durrell 'Tank' Babbs recurs as local bar owner Quincy.
