Plot Synopsis

This one-hour series reveals what really happens when ordinary people try to secure their place in history by attempting to break world records, as Guinness World Record officials monitor each attempt and have the final say over whether a record is broken. Each 60-minute episode features at least four world-record attempts, including tries by these people: a mother who shatters light tubes with her body; a man who hammers nails with his forehead; a human garbage compacter who swallows lit candles; a man who repeatedly kicks himself in the head; a watermelon slicing team wielding swords; a man who has a mouthful of live cockroaches; two brothers who attempt to catch arrows while blindfolded; a man who dives into a shallow pool that is just 12-inches deep; a man who clips clothes pins to his face; a man who runs through a series of glass panes; a group that crams into a tiny car; a man who can jump over three oncoming cars; and many more people trying to break the most unbelievable, jaw-dropping records. In addition to host Dan Cortese, this series also features: Stuart Claxton, the show's primary Guinness World Records adjudicator; Liz Smith, also of Guinness World Records; and actor/musician Zach Selwyn, who comments on the action. During the show's first six episodes, competitors attempted to set 42 new records, with 20 successes, 21 failures, and one tie.

After an eight-month break, this series returned with new episodes -- and a new name, GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS UNLEASHED -- on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 8pm ET/PT on truTV, with an episode that featured outrageous stunts like: most times Joel can kick himself in the head in one minute; the most skips Bria can do with one leg behind her head; most jumps Paul can make on a trampoline while grabbing a bar; the highest donut dunk that Ron can make while bungee jumping; and Trisha, maybe the fastest talker in the world.
