Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Duff Goldman, each one-hour episode of HALLOWEEN CAKE-OFF features four professional bakers from around the country who compete in unconventional baking and design challenges -- where flavor is only the tip of the icing. The bakers are tested to find out who is best at making the creepiest and most innovative Halloween cakes that must also transform in mystifying ways. The first challenge takes place in the studio, where one baker is eliminated. The remaining three competitors head back to their own bakeries to design, bake, and construct an elaborate Halloween-themed showpiece cake. From haunted and cursed cakes to dead and living creations, the competitor who wows Duff and the other judges -- Dan Langan and Waylynn Lucas -- with the most over-the-top edible work of art will be crowned winner of Halloween Cake-Off and earn the $10,000 grand prize.

HALLOWEEN CAKE-OFF first debuted as a one-hour special on Monday, October 8, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT on Food Network. In this 60-minute program, Duff hosts an unconventional competition, where, in the first round, the bakers create cakes incorporating a surprise selection of candies and treats -- but one will be ghosted from the competition. With three remaining bakers, they head back to their bakeries to to create a Halloween-themed showpiece cake that transforms from good to evil by either moving, bursting, shattering or even melting. The one that impresses judges Waylynn Lucas and Pichet Ong with presentation, transformation, and taste takes home $10,000

Nearly one year later, HALLOWEEN CAKE-OFF had its official series premiere on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT on Food Network, with the first of four new episodes. In the debut episode, "It's Alive!," Duff challenges the bakers to wake the dead by designing dead-to-alive themed cakes, mixing ingredients that are dead and dark with those that are alive and colorful. One competitor's cake is deemed dead on arrival, and the remaining three bakers head home to create their showstoppers. Spectacular effects combine with the Halloween spirit as cake creatures rise from the dead to scare up a winner.

Using iconic Halloween candies like candy corn, chocolate chews and circus peanuts, the bakers whip up ghoulish designs with sweet flavors. Frightening transformations and delightful flavors scare the judges into declaring a winner.
