Plot Synopsis

Set against the backdrop of 18th century Georgian London, HARLOTS is a one-hour drama series that offers a brand-new take on the city's most valuable commercial activity -- sex. Based on the stories of real women, the series follows Margaret Wells and her daughters as she struggles to reconcile her roles as mother and brothel owner. When her business comes under attack from Lydia Quigley, a rival madam with a ruthless streak, Margaret will fight back, even if it means putting her family at risk. Meanwhile, Charlotte, Margaret's eldest daughter and the city's most coveted courtesan, begins to grapple with her position in both society and her immediate family. Hulu released the first episode of HARLOTS on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, with an additional episode set to debut each Wednesday afterwards.

On Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT HARLOTS had its Season 2 debut, as Hulu released the first two episodes of the new season. When Margaret's daughter Charlotte places herself in the home of arch-rival bawd Lydia Quigley, their toxic and deep-set rivalry is taken to a dangerous new level. Meanwhile, alluring and wealthy socialite Lady Fitz is drawn by Charlotte into the plot against Lydia, as well. When an unyielding new Justice makes a surprise arrest, Margaret and Nancy must race to find witnesses to give evidence against Lydia. Could this finally be their chance to get Lydia to pay for her crimes? While Charlotte struggles with horribly divided loyalties, the community gathers to share its grief. Tempers flare and the women rally against the injustice of the judiciary, with devastating consequences for Nancy.

Season 3 of HARLOTS premiered on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT on Hulu. The third season continues to follow the fortunes of the Wells family. Margaret has been sent to America in chains and Lydia Quigley is vanquished and in Bedlam. It seems that the Wells girls can finally free themselves of their mother's feud, helped by allies such as Lady Fitz. But Charlotte Wells soon learns that running a lucrative brothel brings enemies as well as friends, including new pimp in town Isaac Pincher. Meanwhile Lydia still finds a way to bite, even in her darkest hour. In the season opener, when Greek Street is attacked by new pimps in town, Charlotte Wells fights back with disastrous consequences. Can Charlotte protect her girls from the men who want to take over her?
