Plot Synopsis
HERITAGE HUNTERS is a half-hour reality series that follows salvage expert Michael 'Bug' Deakin and his team of craftsmen in Northern California, as they hunt for history-rich materials to repurpose into timeless pieces for clients' homes. Bug transforms reclaimed wood from forgotten centuries-old structures. He finds valuable materials such as redwood board-and-batten walls, oak wine staves from a local winery and fragments of hand-hewn Amish barns. From these fragments he creates beautiful kitchen islands, dining tables, porch spindles and exposed beams for ceilings. On Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 5:30pm ET/PT, DIY Network premiered the pilot episode with the series title HERITAGE SALVAGE. In the pilot, "Mare Island Naval Yard," Bug and his team transform a kitchen with salvaged Douglas fir from the historic Mare Island Naval Yard and deconstruct a classic northern California chicken house from the early 1900s. Ross works on a secret project at the yard that is a surprise for the entire team. More than 20 months later, the program returned for its official series premiere with a new title, HERITAGE HUNTERS, on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT on DIY Network. In the series opener, "Egg Feeder Barn Doors," Bug and the gang are tasked with one of the most dangerous salvage projects to date: bringing down a structure without damaging the building it's attached to. Then, the team uses one-of-a-kind reclaimed pieces to transform an unused shed into an entertaining space with loads of charm.
