Plot Synopsis

Narrated by Michelle Yeoh, THE HIDDEN KINGDOMS OF CHINA is a five-episode documentary series that highlights China's beauty and grandeur, from the highest mountains and plateaus to its thickest jungles and bamboo forests. With unparalleled access, the epic two-hour natural history special introduces viewers to the real-life drama surrounding the snub-nosed monkey, Tibetan fox, snow leopard and a kaleidoscope of jungle creatures, and even reveals never-before-seen behavior from the nation's most iconic animal -- the giant panda. On Monday, March 23, 2020 from 8-11pm ET/PT, National Geographic Channel premiered three back-to-back episodes for the series premiere:

"Empire of Giants" (8pm): China's bamboo forest is full of unique animals, such as the giant panda and bamboo bat.

"Forest of the Golden Monkey" (9pm): Meeting China's most affectionate and vocal monkeys in the remote forests of central China.

"Surviving the Ancient Grasslands" (10pm): China's hidden grasslands are remote and barren, yet full of surprising wildlife.
