Plot Synopsis

HISTORY OF THE EAGLES is a two-part documentary that uses rare archival material, concert footage, never-before-seen home movies and new interviews to tell the evolution, history, and enduring legacy of The Eagles, one of rock-and-roll's most iconic bands. PART 1 investigates the band's creation and rise to fame in the 1970s through its breakup in 1980, and PART 2 picks up in the '80s and charts the popularity of their songs despite the band's split, while also chronicling the band's reunion. Current band members -- drummer/singer Don Henley, guitarists/singers Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh and bassist/singer Timothy B. Schmit -- were interviewed, as well as former guitarists Don Felder and Bernie Leadon, ex-bassist Randy Meisner, songwriter JD Souther, and many more. HISTORY OF THE EAGLES, PART ONE debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, on January 19, 2013. According to an article in "Billboard" magazine, "PART TWO was initially created as a DVD extras package, with structure to it," and Showtime presented its world premiere on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 8pm, one day after airing the television premiere of PART ONE.
