Plot Synopsis

Directed by Sam Esmail and based on the experimental-fiction podcast of the same name, Season 1 of HOMECOMING is a one-hour psychological thriller that centers on Heidi Bergman, a caseworker at the Geist Group's Homecoming Transitional Support Center, where she helps soldiers transition to civilian life. Walter Cruz is one of these soldiers, eager to begin the next phase of his life. Overseeing Heidi and the facility is Colin Belfast, an ambitious company man whose manic demands point to questionable motives. Four years later, Heidi has started a new life, living with her mother and working as a small-town waitress, when a Department of Defense auditor comes to her with questions about why she left the Homecoming facility. Heidi begins to realize that there's a whole other story behind the story she's been telling herself. All 10 episodes of HOMECOMING's first season premiered on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT.

HOMECOMING returns for its second season in Spring 2020 with new twists and a new star, Janelle Monae. Her character wakes in a rowboat adrift a lake, with no memory of how she got there -- or even who she is. Her ensuing search for identity will lead her into the heart of the Geist Group, the unconventional wellness company behind the Homecoming Initiative. The second season also finds Stephan James reprising his role as Walter Cruz, who is trying to build a new life following the traumas of war and the Homecoming Initiative, when he begins to realize that there's an even more insidious version of the program underway -- if only he can remember. Hong Chau returns as Audrey Temple, an anonymous underling at Geist who finds herself thrust into unexpected positions at the top of the corporate ladder. Joining the cast for Season 2 are Chris Cooper as Leonard Geist, the company's eccentric founder; and Joan Cusack as Francine Bunda, an equally eccentric military woman. All episodes of the second season are directed by Kyle Patrick Alvarez, who also serves as executive producer.
