Plot Synopsis

HOUSTON BEAUTY is a reality series that follows the staff and students at Franklin Beauty School in Houston, Texas. The Jemison family has owned and operated Franklin Beauty School for over 98 years, making it one of the oldest beauty schools in the country. With the help of Ms. J and her staff, Franklin students are set on a path for success in both cosmetology and life, as Ms. J earns her "Mama J" nickname by being a mother figure as well as an inspiration to her students. Now, in this reality series, Ms. J tries to keep the students focused on the annual Franklin Beauty School hair show. After welcoming a new group of freshmen, Ms. J struggles to preserve order when one student's attitude clashes with others, eventually leading to a tussle in the parking lot and a student who went missing. To put the focus back on hair and re-establish order, Ms. J took students on a field trip for a photo shoot and enrolled them in beauty-school boot camp. Ms. J is joined by Admissions Director Ms. Eley and instructors Ms. Burns and Ms. Howard. OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network aired a sneak-peek episode of this series on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT, three days before the official series premiere on Saturday, November 2 at 10pm ET/PT.
