Plot Synopsis

In the near future, Sophie is telling her son Jesse the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults viewers back to the year 2021 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options. In the series opener, Sophie meets the seemingly perfect guy after a slew of let-down Tinder dates. Meanwhile, her roommate, Valentina, returns home from London Fashion Week with a sexy souvenir. An Uber-related phone mishap leads them to an eclectic new group of friends. Then, in the second episode, "FOMO," Sophie and the gang head to an exclusive new club for a wild night out, as they try and live in the moment. Valentina has doubts about her relationship with Charlie. Sid pushes Jesse to be open to love. Ellen tries her luck with women at the club. HOW I MET YOUR FATHER debuted on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, as Hulu released the first two episodes. A new episode of the 10-episode first season drops each Tuesday through March 15.

Jesse grapples with his decisions and confides in Ellen about Meredith. On Tuesday, May 23, 2023, Hulu released the mid-season premiere of HOW I MET YOUR FATHER. In this new episode, "Not a Mamma Mia," Sophie recruits the gang to help track down her father. A new Season 2 episode drops each Tuesday through July 4, with the two-episode season finale debuting on July 11.
