Plot Synopsis

Host John Walsh, a victim's rights activist and a spokesperson for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, exposes stories of ongoing criminal investigations of fugitives. Through interviews with victims, loved ones and law enforcement -- coupled with new leads -- THE HUNT provides salient information so the public can facilitate the capture of fugitives. Each 60-minute episode profiles one or two criminals, including: Shane Miller, a convicted felon, who is currently on the U.S. Marshal's most wanted list for the May 2013 murders of his wife, Sandy, and their daughters -- Shelby, 8 and Shasta, 5 -- in their Northern California home; Kevin Patrick Stoeser, who fled to avoid extra jail time; Charles Mozdir, who ran from a molestation charge; and many more criminals on the run from the law. THE HUNT WITH JOHN WALSH returned for its second season on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on CNN, immediately following a brand-new one-hour special (8pm) during which Walsh brought viewers up to date on all Season 1 cases, including fugitives still at large, fugitives captured and the five cases that are closed. In the season opener, "Crimes of the Father," an oppressive, overbearing father is accused of murdering his high school-age daughters when they start dating boys their own age against his wishes. Season 3 of THE HUNT WITH JOHN WALSH premiered on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT on CNN, immediately following a brand-new one-hour special. After two seasons, 10 cases have been resolved following the show's exposure. In the special (8pm), "Still Running 2016," John Walsh returns with updates on closed cases, captured criminals and fugitives who are still at large. Then, in the season opener (9pm), "Confessions of a Killer," Tammy Esquivel's boyfriend, William Joseph Greer, allegedly murders her with his two young sons listening from their bedroom.
On Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 8pm ET/PT, THE HUNT returned for its 16-episode fourth season on a new network, HLN, after Season 3 was simulcast on CNN and HLN in 2016. The season opener, "The Frozen Prison," focuses on Dino Curcio, a rapist who forced his 17-year-old victim to marry him, then imprisoned her in a psychological cage for seven years. Other fugitives in Season 4 include: Herman Carroll, a serial child molester; Andre Neverson, who allegedly murdered his sister and ex-girlfriend; Peter Chadwick, a SoCal millionaire who allegedly murdered his wife; Luis Mena, who is accused of raping and murdering a flight attendant; Pablo Pinto Mata, a Santeria priest who allegedly murdered his lover; and more people on the run being sought by law enforcement.
