Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Speedy Morman, THE HYPE is an eight-episode streetwear competition series, where fashion visionaries must elevate their designs and entrepreneurial sense to avoid elimination while remaining authentic to their style and giving themselves a chance at the $150,000 grand prize. The series features ten streetwear professionals who compete in challenges to prove they can walk the walk and deliver the product. Co-signers judged the competition, including Grammy nominated recording artist and designer Offset, creative director and founder of Bephies Beauty Supply Bephie Birkett, and Emmy nominated Costume Designer and Renowned Stylist Marni Senofonte. The panel of judges critiques the competing streetwear's unique DNA, combining fashion, music, art and lifestyle to refine the idea of a "runway" and the balance between art and commerce. Special guests appearing throughout the series include Cardi B, Wiz Khalifa, A$AP Ferg, Dapper Dan and Bobby Hundreds to name some. Every episode offers unique tips and takeaways about the intricacies of designing, the business of fashion and the savvy to identify the latest trends, while also providing mentorship to the contestants. The winning look from each challenge will be available to shop on StockX. The first three episodes of THE HYPE dropped on Thursday, August 12, 2021 on HBO Max, with three episodes debuting Thursday, August 19 and the final two installments premiering Thursday, August 26.

Season 2 of THE HYPE premiered on Thursday, September 22, 2022, as HBO Max released the first three episodes. Hosted by Speedy Morman and featuring co-signers Offset, Bephie Birkett, and Marni Senofonte, the new season features special guests including Law Roach, DJ Khaled, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Angelo Baque, among others. Tackling timed challenges for a shot at a career-changing Co-Sign, a $150,000 cash prize plus having their designs sold exclusively on StockX, the premier platform for trading and consuming current culture, the designers must create ready-to-wear pieces that balance art and commerce while remaining authentic to their vision. An additional three episodes on September 29, concluding with the final two episodes on October 6.
