Plot Synopsis

In this one-hour documentary series, death row inmates convicted of capital murder give a firsthand account of their crimes. Each 60-minute episode features a different inmate -- some who were resourceful, but none who were found innocent. The series opener focuses on James Robertson, who admits to murdering his new cellmate as an escape to the better conditions on death row after years in solitary confinement. On Friday, August 3, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Netflix released all 10 episodes of I AM A KILLER's first season.

I AM A KILLER returned for its second season on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released all 10 episodes of the new season. Murderers recount the true stories of their crimes, including a woman who killed her abusive husband and the man behind a deadly New Year's Eve party. Inmates in Season 2 include: Lindsay Haugen, David Barnett, Leo Little, Linda Lee Couch, Mark Arthur, Joseph Murphy, Charles 'Billy' Armentrout, Cavona Flenoy, Brandon Hutchison, and Toby Williams.

The entire six-episode third season of I AM A KILLER premiered on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 on Netflix. While serving hard time for murder, inmates recount their crimes and reflect on how their actions destroyed lives -- including their own. In the season opener, "A Question of Loyalty," subjected to abuse throughout her life, Victoria Smith confessed to killing her husband. But someone close to the case has doubts about her admission.
