Plot Synopsis

I DREAM OF JEANNIE is an iconic half-hour sitcom from the '60s that follows U.S. astronaut Tony Nelson and his mischievous, 2000-year-old genie, Jeannie, who eventually becomes his wife. After rescuing Jeannie from a bottle on a deserted island in the South Pacific, Tony reluctantly and unintentionally becomes her "Master" after Jeannie falls in love with him at first sight. Back at home, Tony initially keeps Jeannie in her bottle, but eventually allows her to live a life on her own outside the bottle. Without imposing the typical three-wish rule used by most genies, Jeannie is free to use her magic all the time, often without talking to her rescuer about it first. She always uses her powers to try please her Master -- and the love of her life -- but her actions often lead to unintended consequences, and Tony is forced to find some way to cover up for her antics.

In honor of the show's 50th anniversary, series star Barbara Eden hosted a 50-episode, 25-hour marathon of I DREAM OF JEANNIE, starting at 8pm ET/5pm PT on Saturday, September 19, 2015 on Antenna TV. During the marathon, which featured a selection of the top episodes from the series including Barbara's favorite episodes, Eden provided insights and commentary in interstitial segments between the episodes.
