Plot Synopsis

Fifty-ton payloads, 430-hp engines, four feet of gently shifting ice, and some of the toughest road and weather conditions imaginable. Welcome to the world of ice trucking on the winter roads, carved each year across the lakes and tundra of the rugged Northwest Territories. This is a world where a roadbed of ice is the only land route linking remote diamond and gold mines to the rest of the world. These frontier outposts depend on the winter road, and the truckers that brave it, for the transportation of construction equipment, building materials, power generators, and essential survival goods such as food and fuel. IRT vets Hugh Rowland and Alex Deborgorski are back for their seventh seasons, and they're joined by returning truckers Lisa Kelly and Darrell Ward as well as rookies Art Burke, Todd Dewey, and Joey Barnes. In Season 7, which debuted on History on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at 10p ET/PT, two different companies with legendary truckers go head-to-head and try to put each other out of business. ICE ROAD TRUCKERS returned for its eighth season on History on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT. Season 8 features the most extreme weather in a quarter century and the world's longest winter road. A weather system not seen in North America since the mid 1980s, a polar vortex wreaks havoc, making it even tougher to keep the trucks on the road and above the ice. Plus, the truckers press their luck on new roads. For the first time ever, drivers haul on the trail the Guinness Book of World Records named "the longest seasonal winter road in the world," dubbed the 'Ring of Fire Road' for its treacherous passage that winds its way through manmade ice canyons and over deep water. On Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT, History premiered the Season 8 finale of ICE ROAD TRUCKERS. In the season ender, "World's End," the Polar drivers face the long, difficult journey back down the world's longest seasonal winter road. Lisa has to make a game-changing decision...help a competitor push further into the arctic unknown or stick with her teammates and convoy back to Polar headquarters. Her decision could be costly as conditions quickly deteriorate. ICE ROAD TRUCKERS returned for its ninth season on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on History. Season 9 begins a bold new chapter with a fierce battle for supremacy on the winter roads. After two seasons of domination, Polar Industries is back to defend its place as the load count champion. But Darrell Ward is out for cold blood, and he's starting a new trucking company with his sights set on taking down the heavyweights at Polar. To help him achieve this, he's out to poach Polar drivers and their loads. It's an epic battle of David vs. Goliath, as Ward's tiny company takes on any and all jobs, no matter how far or how dangerous, to compete. Meanwhile, Polar boss Mark Kohaykewych -- aided by trucking legend Alex Debogorski, seasoned pros Todd Dewey and Art Burke and new driver Mike Simmons -- refuses to take the threat lying down. Trucking legend Lisa Kelly can only swear allegiance to one company and her decision could upend the balance of power on the winter roads. By season's end, these rivals will have to work together to move a load to one of the most remote destinations in all of North America, where even the big rigs aren't permitted to pass -- a multi-mile ice crossing over the frozen Hudson Bay! It's a season for the ages, one that the drivers -- or the viewers -- won't soon forget. Season 10 of ICE ROAD TRUCKERS premiered on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT on History. The tenth season brings the ice road truckers their biggest challenge yet, as road authorities warn that the rising temperatures will cause the roads to open late and close early. Each trucking company, regardless of their size, is impacted by this race against the elements. Trucking giant Polar struggles to maintain relationships that have taken years to build, so boss Mark Kohaykewych and his team push themselves to their limit in order to get as many loads as possible up north. For Darrell Ward and Lisa Kelly's small company, the shortened season threatens to not only ruin their reputation, but shut down their new business. In order to survive, the team looks to expand to new provinces and territories -- no matter how dangerous. On Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT, History premiered the eleventh season of ICE ROAD TRUCKERS. The warriors of the ice roads are back, hauling vital cargo to remote communities over some of the most dangerous routes in the world. But, this season, the toughest job in the world just got tougher. In the season opener, "The Ice Is Right," after two short seasons, the drivers are ready for what is forecast to be a cold and busy winter. But the tragic passing of legendary driver Darrell Ward leaves the community of drivers wondering who can take his place.

On Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT, History Channel premiered the Season 11 finale of ICE ROAD TRUCKERS. In the season ender, "One Last Lick," the spring thaw is in full melt mode as the drivers get one last lick before the ice roads close for the season. Steph Custance is the first to experience nature's wrath as she slips and slides deep into the trees off a slick road. Meanwhile Todd Dewey is struggling with a big load of construction material over a long and twisty trail. Art Burke is not a happy camper when he is pressed into service to retrieve a super heavy bulldozer over a rapidly melting ice crossing. Reno Ward takes a risky final run just to have his truck die on the ice. And Lisa Kelly is heading home when she gets an emergency call to come to the rescue before it's too late.
