Plot Synopsis

ICONS UNEARTHED: FAST & FURIOUS is a documentary series that takes a deep dive into the FAST & FURIOUS franchise, as cast, crew, and experts reveal never-before-heard stories about the most iconic film and television series. The series opens with the story of how this billion-dollar blockbuster franchise began with a magazine article, which inspired Universal to make a movie about the underground world of illegal street racing. The series features interviews with Tyrese Gibson, T.I., Lucas Black, Roger Corman, Chad Lindberg, Thom Barry, Michael Brandt, Derek Haas, Gary Scott Thompson, JJ Perry, Spiro Razatos, Tanner Foust, Samuel Hubinette, Debbie Evans and Fred Raskin. Episodes include:

"Racer X" (Monday, January 16, 2023 at 9pm): This billion-dollar blockbuster franchise begins with a magazine article that inspires Universal to make a movie about the underground world of illegal street racing.

"Shifting Gears" (Monday, January 23, 2023 at 9pm): After the success of "The Fast and the Furious," a sequel is imminent; Vin Diesel and director Rob Cohen are replaced by director John Singlton and rising star Tyrese Gibson.

"The Tune-Up" (Monday, January 30, 2023 at 9pm): After the medicore reception of "2 Fast 2 Furious," Universal risks it all on a brand-new creative team, a younger cast, and a new kind of racing.

"A Heist?" (Monday, February 6, 2023 at 9pm): Universal breaks the mold; with bigger and better stunts, international locations and one of Hollywood's biggest stars, the franchise hopes the new direction pays off.

"A Death in the Family" (Monday, February 13, 2023 at 11:59pm): Halfway through filming, the ultimate tragedy takes place; the family pulls together to give their brother one last ride.

"Blast Off" (Monday, February 20, 2023 at 11:59pm): The tragic death of Paul Walker creates uncertainty for the future of the franchise; a feud between two cast members could cost them another star.
