Plot Synopsis

ID FILMS is a quarterly feature that includes independent documentaries that shine a light on important and overlooked aspects of the American justice system while showcasing compelling stories of mystery, intrigue and determination. The films include: CROPSEY, a spine-tingling documentary that peels back the layers of fact and fiction of the mystery surrounding five missing children on Staten Island and the real-life boogeyman linked to their disappearances; FINAL JUDGMENT (formerly known as NO TOMORROW), which explores the role of media in the criminal justice system and provides a contemporary commentary on the use of the death penalty in the United States, one of the only developed nations still to use capital punishment. During Black History Month (February) 2013, this series presented MARCH TO JUSTICE, which explored the pivotal victories that led to the passage of the historic Voting Rights Act.

Recently showcased at Tribeca and Hot Docs Film Festivals, and winner of the Best Documentary Feature at Outfest, SOUTHWEST OF SALEM chronicles the nightmarish persecution of Elizabeth Ramirez, Cassandra Rivera, Kristie Mayhugh, and Anna Vasquez -- four Latina lesbians wrongfully convicted of gang-raping two little girls in San Antonio, Texas over 20 years ago during the "Satanic Panic" of the 1980s-1990s. Despite flawed medical evidence and convictions based solely on the testimony of two young children, the women always maintained their innocence -- and have waged an ongoing fight for exoneration. ID will proudly present the world television premiere within its independent documentary strand ID FILMS in October.
