Plot Synopsis

In this monthly series, Jimmy Roberts and his team of sports journalists explore stories ranging from celebrities to everyday people who are all unified by golf. Features included: "Golf Vistas From Behind Bars," documenting the life of Valentino Dixon, who has spent the past 21 years in Attica State Prison in Upstate New York drawing famous golf holes from around the world even though he's never played a round of golf; "Kidnapped: But Golf Saved My Life," chronicling the story of Reg Murphy, who was the victim of a kidnapping in 1974 when he was an editor for the "Atlanta Constitution" and survived 49 hours being locked in a car trunk by visualizing a recent round -- shot by shot -- at Augusta National, home of The Masters; "Mission to Israel," highlighting how golf was meant to bring Palestinian and Israeli youths together in late November 2012 and how the real-world conflict interrupted the group's peace mission with airstrikes hitting near the golf course; "The King's Warehouse," during which Rich Lerner reveals a massive warehouse is a treasure trove of memorabilia that Arnold Palmer has collected over the years in Latrobe, PA; "Divots of Depression: Christina Kim," featuring LPGA professional Christina Kim, an unlikely victim of depression behind her incandescent smile and her full-throttle cheering at the Solheim Cup; and many more off-beat and touching stories about golf.
IN PLAY WITH JIMMY ROBERTS returned for its second season on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 10pm ET/7pm PT on Golf Channel, expanding to one-hour episodes for the new season. In the Season 2 opener, IN PLAY featured an exclusive look at the preparation of the Olympic golf course in Rio through multiple interviews with the course's designer, Gil Hanse, providing n all-access pass to the blueprints, the groundbreaking ceremony and a golf course in the making. Plus, six-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson revealed how the game of golf has helped him become a better driver. Finally, IN PLAY chronicled Jarrod Lyle's return to golf after battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
