Plot Synopsis

This half-hour comedy series centers on Jay Weaver who owns several businesses in a strip mall in San Diego and spends most of his time working in his barbershop, Jay's Chop Shop. A few doors away, Jay also co-owns Nadine's Shop, a beauty salon named for his ex-wife who still runs it. One day, a young man named Kenny Clark shows up out of nowhere claiming to be Jay's 31-year-old illegitimate son from a short-lived fling. Kenny sticks around and begins to take on a role in the family business as he and Jay start to bond. Jay's long-time sidekick Clevon 'Smitty' Smith also works at the barber shop. Created and produced by Bentley Kyle Evans, Season 1 of IN THE CUT also features special guest stars Vanessa Bell Calloway, Golden Brooks and Chastity Dotson.

On Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT, Bounce TV premiered the second season of IN THE CUT. The new season continues to follow this father-son duo as they join in on a secret jailbreak and barbershop pranks. Plus, Jay has a growing attraction to Cheryl, the new co-owner of the beauty salon next store, who replaced Jay's ex-wife Nadine as the shops manager after Nadine deserted the salon and eloped with a wealthy gentleman in the Season 1 finale.

Season 3 of IN THE CUT premiered on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 9-10pm ET/PT, as Bounce TV debuted back-to-back new episodes. In the season opener (9pm), "In The Doghouse," the guys find themselves in hot water after reacting to a pregnancy scare. Then, in the night's second new episode (9:30pm), "Matter of Principle," Jay's old friend, Roderick (guest star Ed Lover), drops by the barbershop, bringing back old memories and old grudges; Smitty's at odds with his new landlord. Other guest stars for Season 3 include Tamar Braxton, DC Young Fly, Cocoa Brown, Nephue Tommy, Marques Houston and Earthquake.

The fourth season of IN THE CUT premiered on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT on Bounce TV. In the series opener, "Rules of Engagement," Jay battles with an unanswered proposal from Cheryl. Smitty sabotages Kenny's chances of finding an apartment. Nathaniel 'Earthquake' Stroman guest stars. This season's other storylines feature: marriage planning, pressures of single life, love triangles, barbershop/beauty shop camaraderie, and much more. Guest stars for Season 4 include: Dorion Renaud, Michael Jai White, Kyla Pratt, Emmanuel Hudson, Angie Stone, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Vanessa Simmons, Flex Alexander, Milan Christopher and more.

Season 5 of IN THE CUT premiered on Monday, July 15, 2019 from 9-10pm ET/PT, as Bounce TV debuted back-to-back new episodes. In the season opener, "The Honeymooners" (9pm), Jay and Cheryl's honeymoon phase is short lived when Cheryl empties out her storage unit into their condo; meanwhile, Kenny and Smitty become roommates for the weekend. Then, in the second episode, "Monster in Law" (9:30pm), Jay meets Cheryl's mother for the first time while Kenny reunites with an old friend who goes from houseguest to burden. Guest stars: Judy Pace, D'Lai, Caroline Harris.

IN THE CUT returned for its sixth season on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at 8pm ET/PT on Bounce TV. In the season opener, "Barbershop Through the Years," the city announces it will demolish Jay's businesses to make way for a new freeway, and everyone must come together to convince an appraiser that the barber shop is a historical landmark.
Bounce TV premiered the seventh season of IN THE CUT on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at 8pm ET/PT, with Mark Curry and Kim Coles joining the cast for Season 7. In the season opener, "Pros & Cons," Jay looks for a replacement to run Mable's Tables, and to make matters worse, discovers that his ex-convict brother-in-law is moving in at home. Kenny is creeped out by Angelique's antique doll collection. Then, in the season's second episode, "Tooth Treason," which debuts one week later, Jay undergoes dental surgery and milks his recovery for longer than necessary. Meanwhile, Mable's Tables new manager, Trish Devoe, has a new plan to grow business for the restaurant.
