Plot Synopsis

Each half-hour daily episode shows a session between psychotherapist Dr. Paul Weston and one of his patients, with the same patient returning for another session on the same weekday throughout the series. As Paul is drawn into the problems of his patients, he finds himself forced to evaluate his own crumbling personal life. In Season 2 Dr. Weston is divorced and practicing from the living room of his new home -- a brownstone in Brooklyn. Since he moved from Maryland, he has a new group of patients whom he counsels on Mondays through Thursdays, but now he must take the train to Maryland to continue his own Friday therapy sessions with Dr. Gina Toll. In season 3, Weston adjusts to three new patients and a new therapist of his own while still struggling with the aftermath of his divorce and fears that his hand tremors might be the onset of Parkinson's Disease, which killed his father.
