Plot Synopsis

INNOCENT is an anthology series with each season focused on a different fictional character who was released from prison after being cleared of their crime during the appeal process.

Season 1 of INNOCENT had its U.S. premiere on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as SundanceNow released the first episode. After seven years in a high security prison, David Collins' conviction for the murder of his wife, Tara, is overturned due to a technicality -- or as his lawyer puts it, an appalling miscarriage of justice. He's lost everything he held dear: his wife, his two children and even the house he owned. He's always protested his innocence and faces the rest of his life behind bars. His situation couldn't be more desperate. Despised by his wife's family and friends, his only support has been his faithful brother Phil who has stood by him, sacrificing his own career and livelihood to mount a tireless campaign to prove his brother's innocence. Convinced of his guilt, Tara's childless sister Alice and her husband Rob are now parents to David's children. They've become a successful family unit and thanks to the proceeds of David's estate enjoy a comfortable lifestyle, which is very different to when Tara was alive. For Alice there's no doubt of his guilt and she's utterly devastated by the prospect of David's Appeal and re-trial. Now able to start his life again and begin to repair relationships with his family and friends, David hopes to finally be allowed to mourn his wife's death. As a new investigation is launched, headed by DI Cathy Hudson, dark secrets of abuse, affairs and money troubles rise to the surface. From jealous sisters to disgruntled lovers, these secrets rip fragile relationships apart at the seams. But one question remains: is David Collins truly innocent?

Season 2 of INNOCENT had its U.S. premiere on Thursday, June 24, 2021 on SundanceNow. When 39-year-old teacher Sally Wright was convicted of murder and accused of having a sexual relationship with her teenage student, her life imploded. Now, she's been freed from prison on appeal having served five years for murder, but a new police investigation begins to uncover some uncomfortable truths. A new episode debuts each Thursday.
