Plot Synopsis

THE INVESTIGATION is a one-hour drama series that follows the complex investigation carried out by Jens Moller, the Head of Homicide for the Copenhagen Police, surrounding the 2017 murder of Swedish journalist Kim Wall, which made international headlines around the world as one of the most notorious criminal cases in Danish media history. Moller is at the show's centee, leading viewers through the complex jigsaw he and his team must piece together, to provide prosecutor Jakob Buch-Jepsen with the evidence he needs to secure a guilty verdict against the murder suspect. The series was created in close cooperation with Jens Moller (the real life lead investigator on the case) and Kim Wall's parents, Ingrid and Joachim Wall. THE INVESTIGATION had it U.S. premiere on Monday, February 1, 2021 at 10pm ET/PT on HBO.

On Monday, March 8, 2021 at 10pm ET/PT, HBO premiered "In Dubio Pro Reo," the season finale of THE INVESTIGATION. Prosecutor Jakob Buch-Jepsen makes it clear to Jens Moller that more solid evidence is needed, otherwise they risk the accused going free.
