Plot Synopsis

Based on Cindy Callaghan's book of the same name, JUST ADD MAGIC is a single-camera comedy series that follows Kelly and her two best friends Darbie and Hannah, as they stumble upon a mysterious cookbook in Kelly's attic and discover the recipes in this book are far from ordinary -- they're magical. When it's revealed that this ancient cookbook may not have shown up by accident, Kelly and her friends attempt to use the recipes to release Kelly's grandmother from a powerful curse, and soon realize that every recipe they make comes with a hefty price. As they work together to uncover more clues around Grandma's mystery, they learn that they can't always cook their way out of every problem. The season finds the trio unraveling the mystery in how to save Kelly's grandmother, but along the way they serve up magical dishes that are more than just sweet confections: a Lost and Found-ue spell to bring the neighbors' dog back, a Bitter Truth Truffle that makes Kelly's mother become excessively honest and Mind Peering Peppermints to learn more about who cursed Grandma. Amazon released the entire 13-episode first season on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, one year after the streaming service released the pilot on January 15, 2015 and 11 months after announcing it greenlit the pilot to series on February 18, 2015. On Friday, January 13, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Amazon released the first 13 episodes of the second season of JUST ADD MAGIC. After their Last Ditch Layer Cake breaks all the town's curses and brings an old enemy back, Kelly, Hannah and Darbie are on the hunt for a special ingredient to determine his whereabouts. The ingredient only blooms once a year... on Halloween, so the girls have to find a way to go back to last year's Halloween and get it without running into their past selves. Using the special ingredient the girls gathered from last Halloween, they cook up a Miso Soup to determine Chuck's location. However, when that fails to work, Kelly instead cooks a "Settle the Beef" sandwich in order to draw Chuck to them instead...but in order for it to work, Kelly has to spell her own Grandma. Amazon released 13 additional episodes of JUST ADD MAGIC's second season on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT. Kelly, Hannah and Darbie are drawn into a whodunit mystery when Kelly's backpack goes missing with the cookbook and spices in it. After discovering the culprit is a mysterious past protector from the '90s, Mama P's spice cabinet is destroyed and one by one, everyone's memories of magic are being erased. The trio must race to identify the other two past protectors before magic is lost forever.
