Plot Synopsis

K9 follows the adventures of the robot dog K9 and his teenage friends, as they take on human and alien adversaries. The new robot dog is voiced by John Leeson, who provided the voice of the original K9 from the 1978 DOCTOR WHO series. K9 is a cybernetic construct from the 50th Century, and he arrived in the late 21st Century by following a group of Jixen Warriors through a time portal that had been inadvertently activated by Professor Gryffen when he was working on an alien Space-Time Manipulator (STM). To save the human race from reptilian aliens who also traveled through the time portal, K9 Mark I sacrificed himself by activating his self-destruct button. However, Starkey, an orphaned rebel, triggered the bot's regeneration disc, allowing the dog to renew itself as K9 Mark II, a brand new version that had no memory of its past, including its history on the original DOCTOR WHO series. After K9's rebirth, Starkey felt like he finally found a family, and embarked on adventures alongside K9. They were soon joined by: Jorjie, the rebel daughter of an Inspector of The Department, who shared their desire to help various aliens on Earth; and Darius, whose ancient London taxicab, named Mariah, has a cybernetic brain and runs on alternative technology. Syfy aired the U.S. premiere of this series on Christmas Day 2012 at 10am ET, followed immediately by 25 back-to-back episodes, broadcasting the show's entire first season on the same day.
