Plot Synopsis

KENTUCKY JUSTICE is a one-hour reality series that follows Sheriff Marvin J. Lipfird and his dedicated deputies and sergeants, as they try to control the drug problem in Harlan County, Kentucky, while enforcing the law and capturing criminals. A capital of corruption during the mining boom, the county was hit hard by the economic slump, and now Lipfird targets everyone from corner drug dealers to city officials in his quest to save his town. From his Chief-of-Police father to his deputy brother, law enforcement is a family business for Sheriff Lipfird. A 20-year police-force veteran, Lipfird has been sheriff of Harlan County for nearly eight years, spending his tenure building a team of skilled deputies to help him reel in the county's drug problem. Now, in this series -- with the help of his second in command, Sgt. Miron Southerland -- Lipfird and his men at the Harlan County Sheriff's Office are called to duty for these cases: a harrowing gunfight in the more affluent neighborhood of Ivy Hill; arson in the sheriff's old neighborhood, where Lipfird coaxes a confession out of the woman who started the fire; a wild goose chase over a drug dealer, with the suspect escaping; a serial arsonist on the loose, who they have narrowed to one suspect -- but have little evidence and no solid leads; a DUI suspect has heart attack symptoms that might be related to using bath salt-laced cocaine; the search for a drug kingpin, who is sitting on a lot of fire power -- and has a history of using it; and many more crimes involving first-degree trafficking of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphenalia, and other drug-related crimes.
