Plot Synopsis

Based on Elle McNicoll's 2020 novel of the same name, A KIND OF SPARK is a half-hour series that's set in both the present day and the 16th century and that follows the inspirational story of autistic teen girl Addie. For Addie, every day is a challenge as she juggles school and friends with the added complexities of being neurodivergent. But when she discovers a centuries-old mystery within her town, Addie finds her voice and lets her light shine as she stands up for those who were persecuted for being different like her. While the series shines a light on the everyday lives of neurodivergent individuals, it also explores the timely and timeless themes of family unity, loyalty, faith in oneself, and hope in the face of insurmountable odds. Featuring a 50% neurodivergent cast/crew, A KIND OF SPARK made its U.S. debut on World Autism Awareness Day 2023 (Sunday, April 2), with two episodes debuting on BYUtv from 8-9pm ET/5-6pm PT and five episodes dropping on BYUtv.org.
