Plot Synopsis

Modern-day knights -- replete with armor, lances and other dangerous weapons -- train for and compete in full-contact, heavy-armored, jousting tournaments throughout the United States. This group of modern-day Lancelots and Galahads are dedicated to transforming this medieval sport from a staged act to a professional sports phenomenon. Donning 130 pounds of steel armor, they mount 2,000-pound horses and charge at each other with solid hemlock lances at speeds up to 30-mph, while peering through a quarter-inch eye slot in their helmets. When lance and knight collide, riders struggle to control their horses and absorb devastating impacts with potential for concussions, broken bones and far worse. Charlie Andrews is the founder of the Knights of Mayhem and the co-founder -- and current world champion -- of the Ultimate Jousting Championship. Patrick Lambke, also known as the Black Knight, taught Charlie everything he knows, and he's training to win the title back from his protege. Jason Armstrong, a professional blacksmith who wanted to be a knight since attending Medieval Times at age 7, is battling the effects of multiple concussions, a broken sternum and a fractured collarbone, and is working to better his 4th place finish in last year's World Championships. Brian Stephenson, an electrician during the week, is out for redemption after not competing in last year's World Championships because of a miscommunication over his ride. These four Knights of Mayhem are joined by rookie jousters Jake Paul and Joe Ambrosius and many others, as the group travels to Sonora, California for the first tournament of the year and then to the Sherwood Forest Faire in McDade, Texas to compete for a $20,000 price purse -- all while jousting with each other during training sessions.
