Plot Synopsis

Using first-person interviews, archival video footage and dispatch conversations, LIFEGUARD! relives the most exciting rescues and most outrageous stories of lifeguards who guard the beaches of Southern California, helping everyone from the suntanned celebrities in Malibu to the beachcombers in La Jolla and from the fearless surfers at the Wedge in Newport to the partygoers in Mission Beach. Each year, these lifeguards make over 10,000 saves, including everything from drownings, rip currents, and hypothermia -- to a boy buried alive in the sand. This series went on duty for a second season in the same locations, when Weather Channel aired the Season 2 premiere on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 9pm ET, showing back-to-back episodes
