Plot Synopsis

LIFETIME PRESENTS VARIETY'S POWER OF WOMEN is a series of specials that celebrates and honors the work and lives of women.

"Frontline Heroes" (Thursday, June 25, 2020 from 10-11pm): This installment celebrates the courageous women on the frontlines of the pandemic -- including doctors, nurses, teachers, researchers, among others -- who are putting themselves at risk to make a difference and working towards finding a solution in this crisis. The special takes a look at ways women are confronting domestic violence, changes to the way children are educated, mental health, homelessness and other areas that affect our daily lives. Current and past Power of Women honorees come together to celebrate these remarkable women, their extraordinary work, and their dedication to their communities during this incredibly challenging time. The program also highlights the 2020 Power of Women honorees for their professional achievements and humanitarian efforts to various causes including Cate Blanchett, Patti LuPone, and Janelle Monae. Plus, previous honorees Laverne Cox, Jennifer Garner, Tiffany Haddish, Gigi Hadid, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Nicole Kidman, Blake Lively, Eva Longoria, Helen Mirren and Natalie Portman pay tribute to these women through self-shot material. The program also includes a special performance by Andra Day.

"The Comedians" (Monday, May 10, 2021 from 8-9pm): This one-hour special honors the trailblazing comedic work of Mindy Kaling, Maya Rudolph, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Sofia Vergara, Michaela Coel, and Kate McKinnon. Each honoree is interviewed by a close family member or friend, including Aidy Bryant, Bowen Yang, Natasha Lyonne, Luis Balaguer, and Charlie Hall. The special also features a tribute to the life and career of comedic icon Gilda Radner presented by Tina Fey, including a highlight of Gilda's Club, the charitable foundation for cancer patients and their families named after the late legend.

"The Changemakers" (Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 10-11pm): This third annual one-hour special features stories of inspiration, optimism, and hope by connecting celebrity honorees with women working every day to affect positive change. The special includes appearances by Halle Berry (Jenesse Center), Priyanka Chopra Jonas (UNICEF), Misty Copeland (Misty Copeland Foundation), Laverne Cox (New York City Gay and Lesbian Anti-Violence Project), Idina Menzel (A BroaderWay), Julianne Moore (Everytown for Gun Safety) and Katy Perry (Firework Foundation).
