Plot Synopsis

LIGHTSCAPES travels the globe, showing how renowned Japanese media artist, Akira Hasegawa, projects large-scale, abstract-painting-like images onto famous man-made architecture and natural landscapes. Each episode focuses on one location. The first episode shines a new light on the 2000 year-old Grand Ise Shrine -- Japan's most sacred of all Shinto sites -- during the re-opening and re-dedication ceremonies on "Bunka no hi," the Japanese national holiday that celebrates culture and the arts.
