Plot Synopsis

From travelers who fell foul of the law and found themselves behind bars, to an adventurer who strayed too far off the beaten track and found himself hostage, this documentary series tells their stories. The seventh season of LOCKED UP ABROAD debuted on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 9pm ET on Nat Geo with back-to-back new episodes. The Season 7 premiere featured the stories of two Vietnam POWs, Sen. John McCain and Ernest Brace, and how they survived imprisonment.

Season 8 of LOCKED UP ABROAD premiered on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 9-11pm ET/PT, as Nat Geo Channel premiered the season opener immediately followed by a one-hour special:

"Breaking Bad in Britain" (9pm): Pieter Tritton must collect one last cocaine shipment, but narcotics agents are waiting.

"Brazen Breakouts" (10pm): Americans plot daring escapes from prisons in Soviet Russia nd Mexico in the 1970s.
