Plot Synopsis

LOCKUP goes inside the Cuyahoga County Correction Center in Cleveland, OH, where this program documents what really happens every day inside this prison, which faces the challenges of over-crowding and a younger, more violent population. Much of the drama in surrounds the Heartless Felons, a local gang that was born in Cleveland's juvenile detention facilities. Gang members regularly threaten, attack and shakedown other inmates for everything from food trays, to commissary goods and arranging for their victims' family members to do them favors on the outside. Plus, during the four months the crew was embedded inside the jail, it chronicled stories of a wide range of prisoners, including: a 71-year-old female inmate convicted of running a $60,000,000 Ponzi scheme; and a male inmate, who after 24 years on Ohio's Death Row, was back at the jail while fighting to have his verdict overturned in court.
