Plot Synopsis

The Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola, the country's largest maximum-security penitentiary, is one-of-a-kind prison in America, where convicts can be cowboys and officers live within the prison fences. Home to more than 5,300 violent offenders, Angola has a fierce reputation, bloodied past and distinctive set-up. While the most extreme prisoners do time in solitary cells, some men earn the privilege of raising animals and training for the annual prison rodeo on the prison's secluded grounds. Adding to the unique dynamic, the warden and his staff reside at the prison and raise their families alongside the inmates they oversee. In this series, warden Burl Cain and his staff must decide whether or not to evacuate the Angola Prison as the Mississippi River's waters continue to rise, causing an historic flood. Plus, the staff is tested as tragedy strikes Camp J while the inmates prepare for the first rodeo of the season.
